How many more do we need? MLS, USL, and UPSL have youth academy teams. The problem isn't a lack of academy teams. one issue with youth soccer and youth sports in general is that recruiting usually only happens at the bigger clubs. Bigger equals better in America. That's not the case internationally.

Did you bother to watch the game, or just look at the score?
The US played France evenly for the first hour or so, and just missed to great chances to tie it up after going down 1-0.
Yeah, it was sloppy to give up the last two goals, but I thought the US looked surprisingly good in general.

It may have looked close but it was not. Yeah they did not convert but France did three times.

That happens in every country..America not the only country with rich or well off families that are able to send or have influence to get their kid the best training, or to the pro teams or even the national team. So blaming “daddy” isn’t a great excuse

The biggest problem for me is we don’t have enough pro teams with youth academy’s for the size of our country. If you look at another countries almost all pro teams from the top division down have youth systems. In America we don’t have that so we miss a lot of kids that should be getting trained at pro level early on. Also, the college system is terrible because in college they are only allowed to practice together as a team I think for like 4 months in their peak years of 18-23ish where in most countries kids that age are already training at the top team or training everyday trying to make the top team

If capitalism were the cause then we would expect to see this problem in all sports, not just soccer. Isn't there capitalism in basketball and baseball?

Welcome to Peak Stupidity. Nobody using "capitalism" in this manner has any iota of understanding about what it is, for better or worse.

Pay to play is a symptom not the cause. Ask yourself why do we have a pay to play model in this country? What do we have (or not have) here that makes pay to play appealing or necessary?
