The WF in Falls Church had a local produce section this week.

Amazon has ruined Whole Foods.

I have never seen local produce at whole foods? I go to farmers markets and roadside stands when I want local.

You know they're owned by Amazon, right?

This has been the case since amazon took over. Even safeway and giant have more local
Prdocuce than WF. WF is just in time service so they need very far ahead supply chains.
I shop at farm stands in summer.

All they need to do is change the sign to say local and raise the prices and people will buy it all up thinking it is local

That's what the Farmer's Markets do.

I haven’t seen local produce — identified as such — in my local WF in quite a while. I haven’t seen local products in the Whole Body section either — something that used to be a huge plus, and one of the reasons I shopped there regularly.

MOM’s brings in summer produce from the Lancaster Farms cooperative. They also have other small farmers on occasion. The produce is the best I have seen outside of a farmers market.

I’ve never found local produce in whole foods. That’s why stopped shopping there. Farmer’s market is best, even normal grocery stores like giant/safeway are better.

It's all subject to food borne illness.

Yes, it is very odd. I just spend the extra money at Farmer's Markets. I go every Saturday and get enough for the week. Pricey, but the taste is sometimes worth it.

Yes of course. But prior summers they have always had some local produce in the summers, just like Giant does.

They are owned by a massive corporation whose expertise is primarily in logistics? They source from the growers who are the cheapest and freshest knowing they can get it to market.

It is the end of July. I haven’t seen local produce at WF all summer.

June/July blueberries were not NJ, they were just wherever shipped in from.

Current zucchini, squash, tomatoes, corn, PEACHES, etc - none are MD or VA or even PA.

I bought peaches from California yesterday. On July 23, in Maryland!

What is going on?
