Wow this all sounds like so much work! I just have my kids hang them in the bathroom and then about once a week they get thrown in the laundry...

I wash on cold with a dark load then hang dry 90% of the time. If I don’t have any other laundry to do I rinse in the sink then hang dry.

We split the difference. Gentle cycle and hang dry. We've never had a problem with suits not lasting

+1 and even the really basic ones like Carters have usually lasted pretty well - used by two sibs with lots of pool, water play, swim pre-team etc.

Seems gross to have the chlorine stay in there and frankly don't have the time for some separate hand washing. Summer is crazy busy!

what usually works for us is practice suit goes in very small bucket (think size of a hotel ice bucket or smaller) fill bucket partially with cold water and swish suit around, take out suit with one hand and dump water from bucket with other hand, then keep repeating until chlorine smell is gone - sometimes need to also hold suit directly under running tap and move the suit around, & our PRACTICE suits can sometimes take gentle squeezing a few times in between bucket swishes and running directly under tap to get rid of the diluted chlorine water - this works for us, try at you own risk

I wash the daily use ones everyday with regular laundry.

This is what I do. They do wear out pretty quickly. I wore a suit twice a week to swim for 6 months and it is destroyed.

Wash after every use in cold water and laundry soap with extra rinse. The chlorine will destroy the suit quickly if not washed.

I usually wash them in cold water with the pool towels.

+1. Year round swimmer in our house and we have found the chlorine smell never really goes away.

OP here. Because my kids go go summer camp that has daily swim plus they have swim on weekend. I have to buy 3-4 sets at least per kid to do rotation, so that I don't have to do laundry every single day.

For the last few years, I throw all those rash guards, UPF 50 swim trunks & bottoms into laundry machine with regular clothing to wash. Then, I hang them up to dry in basement.

Someone tell me that I should rinse them with water with nothing (no soap or others) and hang dry. I have tried it, and they still smell like chloride. Do you throw them in laundry machine or hand wash with water only?
