Shenandoah Caverns is less than 30 mins away. It's smaller than Luray Caverns. Luray Caverns is about 40 mins away.

We have many times done the Massanutten Scenic Chairlift and very much enjoyed the hike to the top to see a lot of the Valley below. If your family is into mountain biking, they’ll take your bike to the top too and you can have a wild ride down.

agree with all of this plus Bella Luna for pizza
cute downtown and Massanutten is about 15-20 minutes from campus. There is a lavender farm nearby that has a vineyard. I haven't tried any of the wines but the farm is beautiful and has live music on the weekends.

We were just there for their Summer Band Camp and had a very nice lunch at the Xenia Kebab grille. Service was fast and the food itself delicious.

My son and I will be visiting Harrisonburg this weekend. He is considering applying to JMU. Any recommendations for things to do or places to eat on or off campus?
