ADHD. This is my kid. However, even on the maximum dose of ADHD medication that works for him, he's still dreamy and lacks spatial awareness. He got it from me, but I've been able to function without meds. However, there is a big gap between how much we live in our heads. You figure out where you lie on the spectrum and see a doctor if you are low-functioning like my kid.

You need to listen to others and pay attention when others are around.

Don't pay attention to previous posters.

Welcome to undiagnosed ADHD 😁 Definitely see a psych and get an evaluation, it helps get over the past and move forward being more comfortable with yourself.

Do you have to get on ADHD medications if you are diagnosed?

DP: No, of course not. But, boy, is it life changing.

Psychiatrist then if diagnosed, meds and an executive function coach

What was the context in which this was said?

Do you have any history of trauma? Gaps in memory re: childhood? If so, EMDR can be helpful in addition to the above, was for me.

Or autism, OP- for the lack of with-itness, not the spatial issue- that does sound more ADHD.

I literally had to train myself to periodically think "what am I supposed to be doing right now?"

And like I have no idea where I am or having spatial awareness.

I think it’s because I’m always in my head and I’m thinking of 100 different things.

How can I stop so I can come across as more present and in the moment?
