I don't eat much deli meat, but my elderly parents do. As another person said, they have a routine, and it involves having sandwiches with deli meat for lunch every day. 've tried to emphasize that they need to heat the meat and let it cool before eating. I hope they are taking my advice. For our family, we'll probably just not buy anything from the deli counter for a while.

We get in-house roasted turkey breast sliced to order at Whole Foods.
But they don't sterilize the slicer between orders, obviously. So I am worried about cross contamination from the Applegate turkey, etc.
DH ate some for lunch. He heated it a little in microwave but I don't think it was 160f. I didn't eat any.
What to do? He only eats turkey and Swiss on ww for lunch. Like for 20 years. Makes it himself.

My teen and I got subs last week without knowing. It was fine.

I was going to make deli sandwiches this week for lunches but crossed it off the list when I learned of it. We had BLTs instead and are just eating other things. Not worth it and I don't crave deli meat, really.

It’s not the packaged store deli meat that was implicated. It was meat cut at the deli counters. Turkey and liverwurst.

The fact that they haven't entirely pinned down the culprit worries me a bit. But I also want a sandwich.
