I'm 45, female. I recently asked a guy about sandwich meat or cheese he was buying and he looked weirdly uncomfortable and his wife or GF looked somewhat hostile/annoyed. People are weird these days.

I asked a cashier what his arm tattoo said (it was not in English). My friend who was with me later tells me, you know that’s considered flirting. I’m married. It never even crossed my mind. I was genuinely interested in the tattoo. I am friendly with people generally and will chat it up with cashiers, shoppers, most about anyone who is friendly. Is it flirting if the other person is of the opposite gender?
