I've only taken uber for 50 and above (airport rides). I usually tip 5.

Different poster, but I would probably tip $2 on a $6 ride, plus $1 per bag if we have any and they helped put them in the trunk.

I love tipping for Uber or Lyft because I can tip an odd amount. Like $2 on a $4 ride. Back when we used cabs and paper money, it would be weird like $5 and keep the change feels cheap, but making someone give you ones just to hand an extra $1 back also feels weird. Now if it’s a $4.37 ride, I can tip $1.09 and not feel like a cheapskate because the app prompted me to give 25%.

So, what’s the story with tipping an Uber?


That ride doesn’t sound like it sucked! Uber rides that suck are things like:
- speeds erratically
- picks you up down the block from your address
- tries to pick you up across the street and refuses to cross to get you
- stops in the middle of the street to pick up or drop off
- stinks like weed
- stinks like BO or poop
- filthy car
- weird questions

This is why I tip, regardless of how good or bad the ride is.

The rating happens w/out knowing if the rider tipped.
