Many (most) teams are always looking for a good pitcher. If she's that good -- B level good-- agree that even "full" teams might be willing to do a private tryout.
But make sure she really knows what she's in for. Travel softball, especially at the B level, is a LOT of time -- probably two, 2-hour practices eight months of the year, plus tournaments/double-headers most weekends, plus winter workouts, PLUS the private pitching lessons.

Virginia Stingrays has tryouts again this week. It’s not too late! Tuesday night.

If she wasn’t a starting pitcher in Majors and All Stars, she isn’t ready for a B team.

I’d be looking for C-level teams for her.

No. We play in a neighboring organization for multiple reasons. She has been a baseball and softball all star. I have registered her for a couple of tryout and reached out to a few coaches. Both B and C teams. Also talked to a friend whose daughter plays travel and she went from rec to B, as a pitcher, but that was in 10u so she thought it might have been easier in 10u. We are not expecting her to make a B team but also don't think it hurts to try out.

PP, above. Note that my kid is the same age, in McLean LL, and plays on a C (not McLean) 12U travel team and has for several years.

Point is, some tryouts are still happening next week. And even teams that are full will look at a pitcher. That said, it is rare that a pitcher with only rec experience will have what it takes. And I am sure the hitting instructor means well or is trying to flatter you but she has only faced rec pitching at the plate.

Tell her to play hard. Be coachable. Hustle. Get her into “yes yes no” mindset for hitting. Talk to the coaches with confidence, look them in the eye. Dive for balls, etc.

Arlington Sage 12U has a tryout on Tuesday: https://arlingtonsage.com/sage-11u-mcbride

Check out Firebirds and Stingrays too.

She should be eligible for both 11U and 12U teams.

I would just temper expectations if she tries to make B or A teams. She really does lack experience.

She should look for C teams if coming from rec btw. I know you think she is a “good little pitcher” but travel is another level entirely.

Tryouts are happening right now although some organizations have probably finished. Where do you live?

My 12 year old daughter has just decided she wants to play travel softball. She played baseball from 4 to 10 and then switched the rec softball. She has a great arm an it turning out to be a good little pitcher, working with a private coach. Is it too late for travel? anyone aware of 12u teams still looking for girls?
