Address the edema first. I got it when taking too much amlodipine for blood pressure.

I got my parent some adjustable “slippers” that are indoor/outdoor with rubber tread bottoms; they have adjustable velcro straps around the heel area and over the top of the foot. On Amazon.

Have you considered compression socks/upgrading current compression socks?

I have terrible edema in my feet/lower legs. Compression socks EVERY day and other leg hygiene practices help a lot over time.

Could they manage Crocs with the strap in the back? The challenge is: the tighter the shoe, the more difficult it might be to put on or the more painful in the evening. The looser the shoe, the more the edema can increase throughout the day. Regular or no socks + loose shoe essentially enables additional swelling.

I like Ecco Soft 7s, but you’d need someone who is patient to tie them in the morning and adjust/loosen them around 6pm.

Thank you - to the PP - we are aiming for something with a back - we are told that anything without will cause toes to curl / grip the shoes and poses a fall risk (indeed we have already had a fall).

You might check out what https://www.orthofeet.com/ has to offer, and look at Propet as a brand (via Zappos—easy returns).

By slip on do you mean backless like clogs? Or how high a back is needed?
Would slip on skechers or this work?

Hi I am looking for shoes for an elderly person who has some edema around the ankles. The slip on shoes are not providing enough support, we are told that they need shoes with a "back" to them but everything we have tried is too tight for the ankle. Thanks!
