I printed a small sign from Etsy that said "Please only flush toilet paper" in a script font and put it in a 4x6 frame in the bathroom that we put out for parties and kept in the main floor bathroom in the years when our kids had playdates with other kids/nannies at our house. This was after more than one issue discovered subsequently (clogging/flooding) from people flushing wipes and/or paper towels (??) at our house without our knowledge.

I was kind of shocked that this was a problem we needed to address because I assumed most people would know better (and we didn't put anything non-flushable in the bathroom so I don't know where said materials came from) - but this happened more than once and needed to be addressed, even though I'm not otherwise a signs-in-my-house person. I wouldn't do anything cutesy or jokey.

imho there is no such thing as "flushable wipes"

That’s not just an opinion, that’s a fact.

What about overnight guests? And... most people bring tampons with them.

What are the odds of only menstruating women getting invited over night to OP’s home?

How about not having anything but toilet paper in the bathroom?
Hand towels for drying hands. NO paper towels, no chlorinated wipes, nothing of that sort.

I don’t get it. It’s your home. If you don’t provide the wipes then how they are flushing them down the toilet? They walk around with flushable wipes? Do you not know the people with whom you invite to your home that you need a sign instead of a conversation?

A sign is tacky. Just tell them. Hi. Welcome. Please do not flush any wipes. There is a trash can to use for anything other than TP. Thanks

Just don't ... provide wipes?

I wouldn't make it funny. I might just print it out and make it look nice in a small but visible frame.

No, we don't. We trust our guests to behave. And we have, er, capricious plumbing too.

Make sure they flush #2 also.

I’d have a trash can with a lid labeled “wipes and feminine hygiene” that you put out when guests are there.

We have an old house with old pipes. imho there is no such thing as "flushable wipes," but I know there are still people who think it's ok to flush these (among other things) down a toilet even in new homes. Does anyone have a gentle/humorous way of saying "please only flush toilet paper" for their guest bathroom? Do you have a sign?
