Volunteer with a campaign or my son was an election page. Not much they can do at that age. My DS is a rising senior in college and has had a congressional internship and two internships with associations in policy.

Apply to the US Senate page program. Or the Richmond Virginia House one.


Isn’t the Virginia state/Richmond page program for 8th graders?

Adding: I was interpreting rising junior as a college student, not a high school student. If the latter, hold on to this advice for the future .


+1 I was getting ready to respond and then saw that this might be a 16 year old. My rising sophomore in college is in a similar field and just now being considered for internships in this sphere.

I will say one thing that has come up in his interviews are questions about office experience - of which he has none. He’s worked for years, but it’s been outdoor/physical jobs, not in an office. Maybe look for office experience for your DS.

Go to your state government site (or other states of interest) and do the same. DC ( rising junior) has shown interest in pursuing a degree in the general area of international affairs/policy and politics in general ( from a public service angle)

Any suggestions for internship or volunteer type opportunities - we live in NoVa. DC has reached out to his local congressman. But wondering if others have any other suggestions.
