Huh? How can an MCSL team get away with doing fewer than the 5 required A meets?!? (Or are you defining 5 as “a few”?)

I'm very serious that this is happening at our pool. This year was very disappointing. They will not let others run the B meets or help out (yes, we've all offered many times).

I grew up in New Jersey, and that's the way it is there--same teams swim against each other every year. But there are way fewer swim clubs there.

Our B meets are nearly always the same local teams. Many kids go to a few elementary schools across the teams. Makes Wednesday's fun and easier driving wise.

Local dual meets are great but finding parking is king - Wednesday or Saturday meets. Landing parking at some of those pools in Div E this summer was a challenge.

Same. We're in the Potomac Area Swim League for B meets, which consists of County Glen, Potomac, River Falls, and Potomac Woods.

Same. We're in the Potomac Area Swim League for B meets, which consists of County Glen, Potomac, River Falls, and Potomac.

We try to do our B meets locally, usually with the same teams every year.

Sometimes we get lucky and end up in a division with other pools mostly nearby but Saturdays can definitely mean a long drive to an away meet some years

We're in MCSL, but I feel like there could be a compromise. I get that a meet between an O team and an A team would be hard, but I think you could take the A, B, and C divisions or the G, H, and I divisions and make 3 geographic divisions for 3 different parts of the county.

Except your theory is generally wrong for NVSL. Most div 1 pools have always been div 1 pools except the one that bounces in and out of div 1.

We are in division E this year and as luck would have it 4 of the 6 teams are very very close to each other geographically. OGC, Seven Locks, Bannockburn and Merrimack are all basically Bethesda, Old Farm is somewhat close. And then there’s Damascus….

It made meets convenient. It made it fun to swim against friends. We all loved it.

I get that this was total chance but I wish they did divisions like the NFL does. You swim against nearby pools and it’s always the same. Some years will be stronger for some teams and weaker for others and then with swimmers leaving and joining it will change.

I know it won’t ever happen but just my wish.
