Yes, they do. After a few tickets, people stop running those particular lights, particularly when their car gets booted or towed, or a lien is placed on their property.

Sorry, but our budget is now more reliant on the revenue from traffic cameras because the CRE bubble has devastated our budget. These cameras generate an enormous amount of tax revenue.

Speed bumps are a better option that traffic cameras.

I wish the tickets (non payment of tickets) would be enforced through booting, assessing points, losing license..something punitive. I'm OK with putting red light cameras on every single light in DC (I don't run red lights, and if I happen to get "caught between a yellow and red", I can either fight it or pay it). I've never in my life seen such a disregard for traffic rules! I'm over it, and would be perfectly fine with all punitive actions for breaking the law.

So people just pay a fine daily? We have speed cameras on my street. They have dramatically slowed us all down.
