That’s the problem. No one wears one so it’s not cool to be the only one wearing one. Apparently basketball and baseball are the sports with the most mouth injuries. Usually fractured or chipped teeth.

No one on my son's 8th grade AAU team wears a mouth guard, and I haven't noticed any kids on the other teams wearing them.

That’s what I found out today after I posted. My husband dropped her off to basketball after getting her braces and the coach told him she’ll need a mouth guard until braces come off.

My son plays a lot of basketball (national tournaments) and he rarely sees players with mouth guards and typically big men. I bought him one and he didn’t want to wear it due to discomfort (and no one else on his team wore a mouth guard). But middle school ball at his level get aggressive so I will insist come winter.

My husband keeps telling me we should get a mouth guard for our 12 year old daughter who plays basketball. It’s not very aggressive at her level and I know nothing about sports.

Do your kids use mouth guards?
