For accommodations, I use an obsessive combination of google maps, booking.com, chase sapphire points, and airbnb. Then I book something, read a negative review, regret it, cancel it, and repeat the ridiculous process all over again.
I plug everything into a google spreadsheet to tabulate overall costs and average cost per night. Then when I inevitably cancel, I move things over to a second ‘canceled’ sheet. Why? I don’t know. It’s a pleasurable control thing I guess.
This sounds absurd, but I love it.
