Same! My friend couldn't get a job with MCPS after she tried to move back after her divorce. She ended up moving to another state and is doing great as a teacher there. This was pre pandemic so I don't know if things are different now.

Correct that it will be tough to get a job in MCPS if you wanted it in the future. A friend called to resign and they hung up on her.

But, that said, I've had to switch districts/states in mid to late summer twice due to moving for my husband's job, and there was no impact. Just don't burn all your bridges because you'll need a reference.


You resign with prejudice if you stay locally and want to go to any other public school. Moves out of area are exempt from this. If the OP is sure she/he isn't going to return to public education, there is no issue.
