My kids all took it online during summer, even with other commitments. Worked out well although one kid had to end up taking it at MC a second time because it was a requirement for MC2.

How will your child survive without knowing how to be healthy through all of high school?

There no NEED to recover in senior year. College apps done. Kid isn't going to fail the whole class while passing the others.

My student took it in 12th. No issue.

Was not not a drop out. Counselor was fine.

DCUM responses = that one person's experience.

Most counselors won't allow this.

It will look terrible on a senior schedule, like the kid is a drop out.

Take it over the summer or online at home during the school year like every other high achieving wannabe.

There is no requirement to take it over the summer. Fine to take it during the school year. It is free and now that it is a full year, it fits better than when it was a half year class. IMO there was more reason to take it in the summer then.

We might be in same boat. Kid keeps saying they will take it in some future summer but I’m really not sure it will be practical. When o was in HS I ended up dropping calc and self studying for AP so I could finish out a brain dead required class that I hadn’t been able to make up during the summer.

OP here. Plan was for my rising sophomore to take Health A this summer but with work commitments and the amount of summer work required for CAP it turned out not to be feasible. Don’t know what future summers hold.

My rising 9th grader is taking Health A and B this summer, because we don't know what her summers are going to look like after that and we'd rather keep options open for 12th grade.

That’s why they should get it done before senior year. Nothing worse than a required class that is super boring and you really don’t want to be there.

It's a good plan, especially if child cannot take it during the summer due to other commitments. It's an easy but boring class, so I hope your child has a fun teacher and friends in the class with them!

I think its best to get graduation requirements over with. We are doing it summer. That way they can take classes they want/enjoy senior year.
