I love hot tea on a cold, rainy day. I also love sweet tea with lots of ice in the summertime!

Tea is definitely having a trendy moment right now. People are acting like it’s better than coffee. Or that they’re upper rung because they gave up coffee for tea. It literally tastes like earthy water. Nasty.

Sounds like you're doing the same thing you're complaining about other people doing. What a way to live.

Obviously. The same way people pretend to like spicy food and beer and cilantro and blue cheese. If there's a food that some people don't like, clearly no one likes it.

And I like it for some reason

Wut.

How old are you? Most people figure out at some point in early childhood that not everyone enjoys the same food/drink.

Hahaha.

I am an American born Asian. I grew up in a household that drank tea and much like anything out there, it's an acquired taste. I acquired the taste growing up and drinking it regularly. But I drink unsweetened tea. I like the taste of the tea and Sweet Tea is vile to me. It's basically just sugar and usually low quality tea.

But you can say that same about any acquired taste. I don't drink coffee and I find coffee fits your description. Although, I will say that coffee does smell great and if I were to ever find a cup of coffee that tasted like it smells, I would drink coffee.

But there are many drinks out there that are popular that don't taste that great, but people acquire the taste for them. This is just one of many.

Newsflash OP: not everyone is like you. I have liked tea since I was a teen and continue to enjoy it. Also, there is a range of tea out there.

Never in a million years did I think I and a billion people would be called pretentious for drinking tea. Do you hear yourself?
