We hiked all the way from Fort Mason to Sausalito via the Golden Gate Bridge and took the ferry back after a nice lunch and ice cream. It was my favorite part. Kids loved Chinatown most.

Alcatraz was my teen DD’s favorite part of our San Francisco visit. She still raves about it 2 years later.

PP. When I was a kid, I loved history so I got interested in "old art" around 5th grade.

The main art museum is nice if there is a desirable exhibition.

If there are still wild sea lion colonies at the pier, that is fun to observe.

Golden Gate Park is huge and you can easily spend a day there and at Ocean Beach. The museums within the park are great, as are the mini parks within the park.

Took my then teenage nephew there years ago. Not into old prisons or prisons generally. He found it really interesting. Nothing wrong with a nice boat ride either. My kid who is now a teen recently said she wants to go there if we travel to SF.

a teen would enjoy alcatraz; a teen wouldn't enjoy museums as much unless they are really into old art, which most teens aren't. You are looking at this through an old person's eyes, not a teen's eyes.

Does anyone have suggestions of places to visit and things to do with teen? We’re tagging along with my spouse for a conference so we’ll be there for 5 days.
