Nantucket is boring for kids. The ferry to Martha’s Vineyard is quicker. You can land at Oak Bluffs where there are lots of cute stores and places to eat. The merry go round is close by where kids try to grab the brass ring for a free ride. The gingerbread houses are close by and really cute to see. Inkwell Beach is close by. There’s a lot to do all in close proximity.

There are shuttle buses if you want to venture out farther. The other side of MV is beautiful, less commercial but not having a car would make it a long trip on a bus.

Pp and I will add Jetties beach is more of a Nantucket feel for a beach, but a longer walk (1 mile). It has lifeguards and my kids love it bc the waves aren’t huge. The Sandbar (beach restaurant with family friendly menu) is right at the beach. Ubers are available if you don’t want to walk there or back.

We've never been to Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket and would like to take a day trip to one (from Cape Cod) with our kids (8 and 6). Can anyone suggest an itinerary from the ferry terminal? For example, is there a beach nearby and kid friendly restaurant? Is either better for kids at that age? Any advice/tips would be appreciated!
