Coastal California. I grew up in Santa Barbara and most houses don’t even have AC (it’s changing with climate change, but still temperate)

Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada. I get headaches every time I visit those states from the dry air.
Parts of central CA, or eastern WA/OR are pretty dry too.

Sonora Desert of AZ and NM has very low humidity. I e camped in the desert numerous times and seen temps go from 115 in the afternoon to the mid-30’s by dawn.

Certain parts of CA and WA have the winning combination of low humidity AND low heat.
I'm with you OP the humidity really aggravates my arthritis. The summers here are getting unmanageable for me as I age.

My husband and I are not quite ready for retirement, but the time is approaching. We are in the thinking-of-next-steps phase.
We currently live in N. VA and the summer humidity is becoming more and more an issue and would like to eventually retire to a low humid area of the country. Dry heat, within reason, is not as much a factor.
Any ideas?
