Neighborhood list serves are where I’ve found my nanny shares. They’ve all been great, highly recommend. If you post your neighborhood, people can probably direct you to the listservs.

We pay ours above market rate and guarantee her a certain number of hours. It's worked out great for her and us, as she didn't want a full-time job.

agreed that you will have better luck looking for mornings, but someone who’s only doing afternoons for another family may also be on the hook for holidays, sick kids etc. unless you’re paying enough that someone can afford to live on what you offer, your candidate pool will be very small.

You're going to have to pay for full time. Just try a nanny share instead since you can't afford that.

Could you find a neighborhood family who wanted an after school nanny for older kids? You pay a bit more than 2/3rds, they pay a bit more than 1/3rd, the nanny gets a bit more than her usual rate for two jobs back to back within a couple blocks of each other.

We are planning on looking for a part-time nanny for our newborn, and we live in the DMV.

We can’t quite afford a full-time nanny, and we don’t really need one since we both work mostly from home with flexible schedules.

Is it possible to hire a PT nanny something like 6 hours a day, 4 days / week?

How would you structure that?
