You lose a month. I always get my car inspected a few days late so I can gain a month.

I always take it to the bmw dealer and get a free car wash out of it and only pay 20 bucks.

It is fine to inspect your car at a dealer if it is relatively new. I would never take a car that is older than 5 years for a “free” inspection at the dealer. They will sure find something wrong with to fail the inspection and make you pay hundreds in unnecessary repairs. Many local gas stations do the state inspection and it takes 10 minutes.

I checked the state's website and it does not answer this question so now I'm curious too.

A possible benefit is that you might not find the time as easily in the month the inspection is due, depending on your schedule. In that case, do it sooner when you have the time. Another possibility would be if you think the car might not pass and you'd rather know sooner than later so the issue can be addressed sooner. However, rather than go through the process of failing and being reinspected, it'd be better to have the problem area checked out by a mechanic before the inspection, and addressed promptly.

Yea you lose a month. It will say whatever month you had it inspected. If you’re a risk taker you can gain months too.

My car inspection sticker says I need to get a state inspection in August of this year.

If I get an inspection this month (July), will my new sticker say August 2025 or July 2025? In other words, do I lose 1 month by getting an early inspection?
