Love mine. It's just a Black and Decker mini, but I use it 2-3 times a week.

+2 for Zojirushi. Much better. Sushi rice choice or regular, form, soft. Even makes porridge/congee.

Another vote for Zojirushi. Turns out perfect brown or white rice, every time. Even makes really good wild rice, which has always eluded me on the stovetop.

I've had my zojirushi for over a decade now and wouldn't be without it. You can also set it up for oatmeal/porridge.

The only reasons to not have one are: you can't afford it, and/or you don't eat rice. If you eat rice at all often, it's a fantastic way to save time, and the quality is much more consistent than stovetop.

Get an instapot and make rice in that, and then you can use it for other things as well.

I grew up with rice cooked on the stove and always cooked it that way until I married my husband. He had a rice cooker and now I will never go back. So much easier and better.

I love my rice cooker. It makes perfect rice. It’s not huge. It’s going strong after 10 years.

I use our rice cooker weekly. I've had it for 20 years. Old reliable.

Instant Pot cooks rice and everything else.

You can cook rice on the stove same as in a cooker, obviously.

I am Indian, we eat rice every day and the rice cooker lives on the kitchen counter. It cost $30 and makes perfect rice every time while I get the rest of the meal ready. If you’re not going to use it often you might want to use what you already have.

Yes, yes you do want it. It is great for rice without the mess or thinking. It is great for steaming. Aldi has them occasionally and at a great price.

OP, I have been wondering this myself. I think I don't care enough about rice since I always put it in other things so will probably go with no, but I do have my eye on an electric TAGINE cooker on Amazon....

uh oh obviously i havent been paying attention, why am I not supposed to eat rice?

I don't want any kitchen appliance that's only for one food. I don't want a lemon squeezer thingie or an egg slicer either.

Not worried about the convenience factor, just interested in taste/texture. Is is appreciably better than if I cook on stove? I like rice a little bit sticky and I dont know to get that texture stovetop style.
