Our team (between D5 and 10) has always required swimmers to wear their team suits for A meets (They will allow exceptions for kids who the team suit doesn't fit well). Tech suits are allowed at Div Relays, ASR, Divisionals and IAS)

We our team jumps around divisions 10-13 ish and we have no tech suit team rule. But also no one is wearing tech suits to a meets because they are expensive.

NVSL doesn’t allow bonded seams for 12&U (neither does USA Swimming). That’s the definition of technical suits in rule book. NVSL does allow kneeskins and other fast suits for 12&U, as long as they’re the approved kind.

This. Our 12&Us wear kneeskins for relay carnival, divisionals and relay/ individual all stars. If DCs are going for a record, they wear them to a B meet. I am very much against them wearing kneeskins/ fast suits to A meets.

This seems backwards. Wearing a fast suit to a B meet raises sportsmanship issues.

I don’t agree with “going for a record.” This means “if you are close to a record we will give you an advantage.” As a referee the minute the rule book is different for different swimmers you are in for a problem.

Also we are MCSL where you can qualify for All Stars at any A meet, so restrictions on suits would fall differently on different swimmers in the league.

The boost that 12Us likely get from a non-tech kneeskin is going to be psychological, not physical.

OP here. I’m talking about tech suits (13&Over) not the 12&U kneeskins.

For a rec league it is pretty unsportsmanlike to wear them at A meets.

NVSL Swimming in general is pretty unfriendly/unsportsmanlike for anyone not trying to get a D1 swimming scholarship.

Yes, remember that a kneeskin is not necessarily a tech suit: there is a lot more that defines a tech suit besides legs. Also USA Swimming doesn't permit tech suits under a certain age, so it's highly unlikely that those long suits you're seeing on summer kids are actually tech, since they can't use them in the winter (and a real tech suit had a really limited number of wears).

We’ve been anywhere from D3 to D8 during DCs time on the team and have always had a no tech suit policy for meets other than Relay Carnival, Divisionals, and All Stars.

We are also on a D1 team - Our team only allows tech suits when a swimmer or relay is trying to break a record; for Divisional and All Star Relay Carnivals; and for individual Divisionals and All Stars.

I see tech suits at our A Meets all the time - Div 1. Our team does not allow them for time trials or B meets.

Not talking about Divisionals, All-Stars but regular meets. Does your team have a policy?
