So, 10 years ago, I purchased an Epson Workforce 3540 printer. This printer has been a great workhorse for us. We use it for copying, scanning, printing and I even print photos on it. If you get glossy photo paper, the photo quality is good. We use this regularly, especially with the kids, we have so much printing, scanning, copying of forms for school, camps, scouts, etc.
I specifically purchased this because it because I wanted low cost printing. The toner is much cheaper than any printer we've owned before. I've had no additional needs like print heads or any other replacement component. And I knew it was a while ago, but didn't realize it had already been 10 years until I just looked up the receipt in my email. 8 years ago, a friend who was on a budget, asked my recommendations and she purchased a lower cost version of the wf-3540 and she has been using it for 8 years. Prior, my printers had lasted about 6-8 years and the toner was much more expensive. This Epson has been such a cost savings.
I researched on-line and bought it from the lowest cost vendor on-line that had free shipping. I recommend that you look at the newer versions of the Epson Workforce line and buy the one that fits your usage needs the best. It's been well worth it for us.

Office Depot last time, but only because their price was the lowest of anywhere. Shopping around makes sense.

I have this one, but I think it’s been upgraded to a newer model. I’m still on the original cartridge.
I’ve been looking at Brother MFCL3780CDW and am about to buy. My BIL highly recommended 3770CDW (his is a few yrs old now) and i believe this is the newer model.

Older Canon color laser mf643cdw all-in-one works well, but refill toner is expensive. Postscript support is only in the Canon driver for the connected PC, not built inside the printer.
Older HP color laser printer m451dn works fine and (at least ours) accepts much cheaper 3rd party toner. Lower per-page cost than Canon and better Postscript support. Postscript is built into the printer.
Some new HP printers appear to be low-cost but are a trick. They charge the "owner" a fee per-page printed. Be very careful not to accidentally buy one of those.

We just bought a smaller Canon imageclass on Amazon - laser printer all in one - and so far it’s been great.

Looking for laser color printer recommendations for home use. Wirecutter recommends an HP model, but I hear so many bad things about HP. Copy/scan features are ideal too. Any recommendations?
