I say, no cure. If there really were a cure for baldness (in men), thinning hair (in women), don't you think that there would be NO bald men in Hollywood?

I've been taking it for a year and a half. I have had my thinning areas regrow (with a mild increase in facial hair, which I'm willing to live with).

It slows down the inevitable when it works. That’s good enough for me. You do you.

Fair point. But, don't we all want to hope for/try things that will make us feel less self conscious and more confident? Do you have any suggestions other than minoxidil. I'm open to extensions, toppers or anything else that could pass as "real".

I started with topical but wasn't using it consistently, and also, I wasn't sure where exactly I should be applying it, as I wasn't experiencing hair loss in a specific area, say temples or crown. I was just shedding a lot of hair each day. I got my prescription online from Musely.

PP here. Thank you, this is very helpful!

I stopped the topical Minoxidil when I started oral. Early on, the difference in my hair was more noticeable to my derm than to me, but after about six months I do notice more and thicker hair. Unfortunately it also grows more facial hair but I guess we have to live with that. I will say it hasn’t been a complete game changer but I do feel leas horrible about my thinning hair since I’ve been taking the oral.

I noticed new growth within a few weeks, but on eyebrows and eyelashes. I’ve been on moral for 6 months and the hair on my scalp is noticeably thicker. It took about 5-6 months to notice that.

I'm interested in this answer too. I've been on oral for 30 days and still lots of shedding. I'll post an update when it slows down.

You should stop the topical minoxidil if you’re taking the oral and vice versa. Your derm should be telling you this.

I noticed new growth within a week. I didn't actually shed very much at all - a few strands at most but I noticed my hair growing in straight away. Within a few weeks, my hair felt noticeably thicker - I could still see gaps, particularly in the front where it had been falling out the longest. The individual hairs in the back looked thicker and there were more of them. Having said that, if you continue to shed, I would not continue to take it.

My derm just prescribed oral minoxidil for hair loss. I was previously on spiro and using topical minoxidil. Does anyone take spiro with oral minoxidil? Do you also keep using the topical minoxidil?

Will the oral minoxidil reset the shedding clock? I’m in the middle of the dread shed and don’t want to start over.

When did you notice results on oral minoxidil? Either less shedding or new growth. I have a big event in September and while I know I won’t have new hair by then, I’d like to keep what thin hair is left.
