I'm curious as to why they couldn't just make the 2-days of Thanksgiving week the two training days for teachers and the students have the 5 days off. Far better than so many frequent long breaks. I agree with above commenter about getting back into the rhythm of school with frequent breaks.

Maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but why aren't these days part of the calendar acceptance process?

A 5 day weekend in November is pretty obnoxious. It was amazing to me this spring, when we had mostly 5 day weeks the end the year, how much EASIER it was to keep my kids in the groove. I didn't realize how awful all those 3 and 4 day weeks were. I thought it was nice to "get a break" but it's really just keeping them from hitting their stride because they are off more than on.

To be fair, I was planning to take my kids on vacation that weekend anyway giving the ridiculous alignment of days off. I guess APS is acknowledging that we're all skipping these days?
