Upon further investigation, it becomes clear that this is the same individual charged with an armed robbery in April.

Very interesting that the DC justice system won’t consider pretrial detention despite seeing numerous examples where it would have prevented shootings, and even murders.

Most of DCUM is over the age of 25 so you would be prosecuted in DC.

I’ve seen worse. Demonte Hewitt, 22, was on probation for his role in a 2018 murder and in 2022 in Montgomery County pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and use of a handgun in commission of a crime of violence.

Now it's just UUV with a weapon...

Only in DC does armed carjacking turn into:

Count 1: UUV, 1st Offense (misdemeanor)
Count 2: possession of an UF (misdemeanor)

Well he's only 19. That guy who shot at the woman and child in her car and got time for it (after being extradited from Costa Rica) is in his 40s. And from Maryland.

They don’t have room in jails for this.
