Looking for a former Vandy admissions officer perspective for help with ED app. Which Sierra has.

Non-DMV private.
Yes we mostly need essay help and ED/RD strategy. The pricing is high though.

How much do they charge?? I find college counseling to be a rip off personally, but if you have change to spare…

Call them for a quote. They are ALL charlatans. If you go in fully aware of that, its a less painful process.

LA based parent, have not heard of this company. Not sure if that matters - are they regional?

I interviewed a few companies and if I were to take on a college counseling/prep company it would be IvyWise - downside is they are pricey.

OP I'm an LA based parent of 2 high schoolers. I looked at that company but haven't engaged it. We actually worked with Richard Montauk whose name comes up in the college forum a lot. He is mostly focused on getting kids into the Ivies, Oxbridge and some European colleges. Having said that he was helpful in terms of guidance for writing essays from the UC questions, about EC's that stand out, about HS course choices (here he was extremely helpful in fact) and Summer activities. He charges and hourly rate if you don't want to go into a longer term arrangement. We probably worked with him 6-10 hours tops.

It's different now. There are a bunch of grinches on College Confidential all the time. Unlikely to get useful advice from that site.

If your kid goes to big 3, those discussion are mostly irrelevant to you.

CC has become weird. Excessive moderation. Intolerant of diverse opinions. Not much traffic. Many threads seem fake.

Agree. A lot of the remaining normal folks came here.

If your kid goes to a big 3, don't they already have access to superior college admission counseling?

Saw a few (?) west coast parents here in the private school post.

What have you heard about Sierra Admissions? College counseling firm? I read about them on here in another post last month but don’t know anyone irl who’s used them…

Any and all feedback appreciated….or any other names.
