Thank you all! You have me convinced! We will go in mid-October instead.

No. Just no to the inland cities. Many businesses will be closed with signs that say "closing july 1st, we'll be back in september."

I know it's tempting because you think, it will not be that hot, "it's a dry heat" and other sundry lies--but, it will be SO HOT. There is a reason hotels are so cheap, it's called sunstroke.

If you want to go to the Andalusian coast, like Nerja, Cadiz, Málaga, etc, with perhaps a quick detour to Granada, fine. Or, as a PP said, if you are cool with like..staying indoors from 11 am to 9:30 pm (remember, the sun sets very late), then fine. But there are not a lot of fun indoor activities for kids in Andalusia, it's a very living outdoors in the sun culture. (Hence why everyone escapes to the coast in the summer)

October is perfect weather in Andalusia. that is when I would go.

I used to live in Spain and for years would go to Sevilla to visit friends around this time of year. It is unbearably hot. In my case it was fine only because I was fine to sit at the pool, take a siesta and go out late evenings and just generally relax and catch up but I would never plan travel there in July if you're trying to cover all the sites. The heat makes everything a slog. October is lovely.

Too hot. Lovely other times of year, though.

So so hot it was hard to be outdoors. Or just indoors sometimes. Not worth it IMHO.

We live in Europe, so we can pivot our holidays, but we had planned to go to Madrid and then down to Seville, Cordoba, Ronda and Granada next month. I've been there before in July over 20 years ago, and it was hot. Now I'm debating going in October instead, but my kids speak Spanish so was hoping to go this summer. Anyone have a lot of experience in this region in the summer months? Yay or nay?
