My oldest had buds at that age (October birthday so beginning of 5th) and got her period at 13.5, some of her friends got their periods in 5th grade. I think what you describe is pretty average not early at all

Normal. If you haven't already, ask if she wants to try some bras or camis, and get her some. My 11 yo likes Maidenform's "Girl" line.

14 is pretty late for a first period, BTW. She may be late like you but she may also be earlier (5th - 6th grade is common) so make sure she knows about it and knows she can ask you for info and supplies.

Yep, that’s on target. No problem here.

I got my period right after I turned 11. 35 years ago. And it wasn’t even unusual then.

11 is right in the zone. Hard to accept our babies are growing up. I read 3-6 months from the point of underarm hair.

I don’t understand how people are living this much under a rock. She’s almost 11! Do you go to the pediatrician? Did you read what your kids got taught as part of health class, as surely by this age she’s had the puberty talk. I’m sure she has friends wearing bralettes.

Also google. You’ll find multiple credible resources instantly.

Be thankful she’s average. My daughter got her period shortly before she turned 10, right as 4th grade was starting. I was also concerned but the pediatrician told us she was on the early side of normal even with that. Before anyone asks, she was thin and athletic.

She’s almost 14 now and has pretty much had a normal development other than that. What I’ve learned from talking to other parents, early, late or normal, they are all going to get it so it’s best for us to keep calm and be prepared. Have supplies in the house for her for when the time comes or when friends come over to visit, since they may be unexpectedly getting theirs too.

Be thankful for what you’ve been given, she’s perfectly normal.

The doctor said to watch out for clear discharge like a practice period and about a year after would be period. DD got buds at around 10.5/11 and will be 12 this month no period yet but guessing soon. Hoping she gets a growth spurt first.

Seems normal. I had breast buds at 10-11 years old. Got my first period at age 12.

Not young at all. Right on time. Some get their periods at 10

My daughter is a rising 5th grader and has started to have changes in her nipples already. She is a September baby so 10y 9m old.
Surely this is worryingly young?
Online sources seem to think this is normal, but I just find that hard to believe.

Any insights welcome. I can’t remember how long after starting to get breasts to when I got my period but I was 14 so I was happy about it.
