When NIMBYs delay projects, that is what happens. so much of everything could have been completed years ago.

“The Promenade” is a total joke, a heat island that cost millions of dollars of taxpayer money with barely any trees, plants or seating. The ANC rep that the hope is that bars and businesses will provide seats and water flowers.

It seems to have less people on it then it did before the change. It's just a big slab of uninviting concrete and nothing else. Is the idea to give the businesses that outdoor space? Otherwise it makes no sense and serves no purpose.

That ANC is a disaster.

They should add what you mentioned. Heat island is not what anyone needs.

The Macklin developer stiffs his contractors on construction payments and the D.C. government on taxes. And that’s the NiMBYs’ fault?!? That sounds so Trumpy in so many ways.

Given that the Macklin and promenade are total eye sores, I’m sort of with the NIMBYs on this one.

Gee, I heard the contractor screwed up and was being replaced and the project should be recommencing soon.

That’s what the local ANC commissioner said, that the project is just moving to the next phase. Nothing to see here.

Being listed in a tax auction does not mean it is being sold.

The economics became challenging but as I understand it, the refinancing recently came through and construction will start again shortly (and the arrears in taxes will be made whole as well)

News broke today that the properties that form the controversial Macklin development in Cleveland Park will be sold for unpaid taxes at auction next month. Anyone know more about this? What does it mean for Fresh Baguette, the new wine store, and the flower store?
