How tall is he? I agree with PPs especially if your family can reasonably afford the school. Financial aid typically offered to recruits.

OP, your kid needs to be a realistic college recruit to even start the conversation, but also, your kid will need to be able to do the work at some level. The days of passing kids through schools without the academic side, are over.

Just starting on Takeover or Durant isn’t all that’s necessary. I know starters on those teams who are full pay.
If your kid has good grades and starts on one of those teams, he may get a leg up, but we are just talking about getting accepted.
Getting money toward tuition is a different animal.

Those schools don’t give athletic scholarships. If your kid looks like a future NFL or NBA player, they will figure out a way to make it happen. If it’s apparent that he has the ability to play in college and he has excellent grades, some of the schools will also figure out a way to make it happen as well. But if he doesn’t have either of those things going for him, then you better find some money from somewhere

If you want your child to be recruited by a top private, he needs to be a great player, first and foremost.

Where is he playing basketball now and good is he? We know one kid who got a scholarship to a private HS for a different sport and he was a nationally ranked athlete.

My son plays basketball. I am just curious as to how easy/hard for him to get a scholarship to some of the private/Catholic high schools, such as St. Johns, Gonzaga, Landon, Georgetown Prep etc. He does ok academically but has learning challenges. I am curious how that factors in a high school's decision to recruit.
