Most in-laws are normal until grandchildren are born. Then the expectations on kid-in-laws change dramatically!

Nada. I'll be out of their hair and out of the country. I remind him often that relationships are not easy. He saw what his parents went through.

Be kind, responsible, respectful, and committed to the relationship with our DC. That they are growth-oriented (because our DC is, lots of inner self-work after years of struggling with depression).
Their relationship is theirs, so I only get involved or lend a perspective when I'm asked for it.
We like seeing our DC and ideally would like them home for some holidays and realize we won't get all of them

Nothing too crazy -
- see them at least once per year (we can travel, or they are welcome here)
- be invited to large important events - wedding, milestone birthdays, graduations
I mostly want them and my child to build a kind and loving relationship, but all of that is out of my control. I do not care if they have children or not, decide to work or stay at home, etc. No expectations around holidays.
So far we have good relationships with our young adult kids, and have a friendly relationship with the current serious gf (and her parents).
