Good luck.

I find it best not have sugary items in the house. I only have a few nice snacks I crave and eat rarely.
I have weak moments, and if a bunch of sugary items are a few steps away, I’ll go with impulse and end up feeling yucky.

You just can’t keep it in the house. I stick apples and bananas and whenever I get a craving I have one of those.

Me, too. A few years ago I started getting Dove dark chocolate ice cream bite things on sale. Amazingly enough, one or maybe two of those actually satisfied me. I haven't even seen them in the stores I frequent lately. But mini ice cream cones don't give me the same level of satisfaction, just want another one. Maybe it's the additional sugar from the cone and lack of dark chocolate taste.

I have this addiction to Sodastream Diet Dr. Pete and Diet Cola (mix them with seltzer).

I have no idea how I'm gonna stop drinking this stuff. It's worse than crack.

I am still working on it, but have found it’s like when I quit smoking. Cutting back never worked. As soon as I have a little I want more.having a small treat just makes me have cravings, and then I feel more deprived than if I’d never broken the seal that day.

It’s hard, it’s a habit and you’re still getting cravings. Make sure you’re eating enough other healthy calories so you’re less tempted especially when you’re food shopping. And be aware that cravings will appear but will also pass quickly if you don’t succumb to them. And the longer you go, the cravings will be less and less frequent.

Everyone is different, but this method did not work for me because I would struggle not to eat the whole bar. To cure my addiction I had to completely avoid sugary foods. I ate only the naturally occuring sugars in fruit, etc. The cravings did go away and now if I eat things I used to eat like a giant piece of cake with lots of frosting (one of my past favorites), I hate the way it makes me feel and therefore I don't have any desire to consume them.

So OP, the allow yourself to eat a little approach might work for you but you might also consider trying to abstain completely.

Good luck either way!

I woke up this morning and got out of bed and didn’t feel any pain in any place in my body. I was at day 5 of a total sugar detox and had been feeling better every day as inflammation receded from my body.

Went to the grocery store this afternoon and while most of what I got was healthy, I succumbed to the lure of some coupons and picked up a few sugary snacks and just ate some and now I feel icky.

Why did I do that??? How do I keep from doing it???
