One idea is to look at people working for Fusion Academy, and then reach out to them through LinkedIn or something to cut out the middle man. They would be experienced in one on one education.

We’re looking for the exact same thing for our child’s middle school years.

RainbowResource.com has good comparative curriculum tables. They sell all kinds of curriculum materials - secular, religious, whatever. Even when we do not buy there, we always find their comparison tables helpful.

We did this set up during Covid and the following two years. We asked around to teachers we like at DD’s school then offered the job to one who accepted. She worked in our home 15 hours a week. We paid her $76k. She got her benefits through her husband and therefore declined a health insurance stipend. We had two kids she taught. It was honestly a great experience and we would have continued but we moved.

Are you looking for in person or online? My neighbour homeschools all three of her kids and uses a UK based company called Tay Berry Tutors

I am also looking for a teacher to help me teach my 2 boys who I plan to homeschool starting next school year. I only intend to do 2 hours of academics per day, so would need someone who's working with multiple families, or has other ways to supplement their income. Did you find anyone, OP?

Yes you can find someone, no it won’t be cheap, they will probably only want to come 3-4 hours daily if focused solely on academics. If you want longer and summer hours then consider a nanny with an educational background, you can always supplement with additional tutors as they age.

You'll probably need to advertise the position on Indeed.com and/or similar websites. You might also work with an agency to find the teacher.

You'll need to be specific as to the responsibilities. Are you looking for a live-in teacher like an English governess, where part of the compensation is room & board? A full-time but not live-in teacher / nanny? Part-time teaching (because, realistically, getting through just course work is not a full time endeavor).  Teaching + enrichment? Teaching + household management?

How much are you willing to pay? Benefits? Will you need a credentialed teacher to meet the homeschooling laws in your state? If so, that person has significant opportunity cost to take the position, because they could be accruing benefits if they worked in a public school. Multi-year contract?

I’m sure you will be able to find someone. In the DMV someone good will not be cheap.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may end up not telling your reviewer about your teacher.
