I don't know about the apps, but my divorced neighbor has a girlfriend who was widowed. They are both in their 60's, possibly early 70's, and seem very happy.

Just lie and say you're 59. All the men are lying about their height anyway.

The experience on the dating apps will be different, for sure. I'm not 60 yet but am over 55 and get a much lower match rate already than I did when I last used the apps as a 48-50 yo. I get plenty of likes but not that many matches with the men my age that I find attractive. I get more likes from younger men presumably looking to hook up with an older woman and from men that I consider too old for me. I've been on a few dates and am currently kind of seeing someone a few years younger. It's not a complete bust. But, IMO, at this age the apps no longer work very well. If you're open to a broad age range you might do better. I have tight parameters for age and tighter parameters for distance because all I want is someone compatible to go out every now and then. I don't care if I don't get a lot of matches. I'm not using the apps to pair up for life at this point.

I think that past 55, it's better to meet people IRL than on apps, where a good portion of the men in our age group are focusing on younger women and won't even see you because of their settings.

My widower grandfather remarried in his mid 70s and got another 20 years of marriage.
