These might be close! The ones I had were less browned but think that can be altered a little.

They were round and had a soft crust; they were also available in a five “petaled” shape. They weren’t ciabatta. They were much closer to an American dinner roll than to a sturdy pane.

I stayed in an Italian hotel last week and breakfast had rolls as an option. I know I should know the broad name for this kind of bread but I can’t think of it. They were risen and had a very plain flavor, but I really enjoyed them as a breakfast option and would like to make them myself at home. Searching “Italian bread” is obviously yielding any helpful answers.
