6th grade AAP teacher here. Did he have all 4’s all year? Does he have strong executive functioning? If yes to both then he should take Algebra. If there is a no, then 7H.

DCs found Geometry to be easier and more interesting than Algebra 1, primarily because of its visual aspects and rule-based nature. Algebra 1 becomes easier with increased practice, as does basic trigonometry. However, where complexity starts to kick in is with graphing and inequalities in Algebra 2.

Algebra 1 is pretty easy, OP. A child with those stats will be fine. You do have to think about what happens down the road. Most kids find Geometry much harder, and it goes up from there.

Does anyone have more specific recommendations to thrive in Algebra 1? For instance, would you suggest a 94 IAAT and 511 SOL?
