They've been popular for at least 10 years now, so I suppose that in itself makes them basic.

That said, maybe people find them functional and like them. Nothing wrong with sticking with what works for you.

Totally agree with the others here - they're like Coach circa 2005, or LV Neverfull in 2015.

They kind of scream, "I'm so excited I spent 3K on a bag!" which might make a person seem rich in some crowds, but definitely makes her kind of pathetic in others (crowds that are either richer or more fashionable - I definitely don't think you have to spend money to have style).

This. I have one, because I like it. I didn't buy it with the intention of being anything but basic. I buy what I like. Sometimes it is something unique and sometimes it is something that 10 other people will have at the same event. I don't really care.

This just seems like how a lot of people in a given room are wearing Nikes. We’re all just buying the same stuff at the mall. Only the price tags are different.

I don’t judge any one individual who has or wears one, but I can’t stand that I can go to an event and 2/3 of the women are carrying one. There are so many more interesting, stylish bags at that price point, and it seems like the primary virtue of YSL is that it signals to people who don’t know anything about fashion that it’s expensive.

Anyone else with me? Whatever happened to fashion as an expression of individuality?
