The Point is in a sort of obscure location, but is large and has a good celebratory vibe on the water. I think the parking is not bad but have only been once. Also agree Salt Line or other Navy Yard places by water would be good. Check whether there is a Nats game though.

Oh whoops -- I forgot that you are looking for a lunch place. I apologize.

Would not recommend Ruta. The food was very disappointing.

Some that haven't been mentioned: Chloe, Osteria Morini, or All-Purpose in Navy Yard; Sonoma, Ruta, and Duck & The Peach on Capitol Hill.

Up on Barracks row - Lavagna is a nice italian spot. Up on Pennsylvania and 10th SE, Paraiso has fabulous Mexican food (and a very attractive decor)

complete s/o but is Paraiso really good? Have been meaning to get there but lately just end up at The Roost.

Paraiso is REALLY good. Expensive - but an excellent happy hour. I echo PP's suggestion of The Point - great location/view/parking and good food.

--OP again. Not so worried about the money. If it ends up closer to $80 or $90 a person, so be it. Since the pandemic we don't go out at much just because it's so expensive for for a graduation the cost is not much of a concern.

OP here. Thanks so much for the great ideas so far! It will be on a Thursday. Probably around 1 pmish? Would love to get out of there around $50-$60 a head. Is that fair? I doubt the adults will be drinking at lunch.

I second the Salt Line. There’s also The Point, which I have not been to, but seems like it would be available for lunch and have parking.

Lots of options in Navy Yard and the Hill! How expensive and what kind of food? What day of the week?

Son is graduating from high school. It's being hosted at some place in Anacostia (Sport & Entertainment Center) and I don't know that part of the city at all. I've been googling to try and find possible places to have lunch afterward but I'm having a hard time and then remembered all the anonymous, knowledgeable people on DC Urban Moms. Please recommend spots that might be a 5 miles radius from the heart of Anacostia. I was thinking heading back over the bridge into Capitol Hill but a place IN Anacostia or over the line into Maryland could work too. My brother and his family will be joining us for lunch and they are driving from Annapolis, so I don't want to make them drive much further west after the ceremony, nor do we want to go east a bunch. Would love a place that's comfortable, great food, that feels reasonably special. Bonus if it has parking. Thank you!
