There is a button to turn off the auto stop start. I think it has a an A in it. You have to press it every time you turn the car on though.

I have a 2019 Outback. No auto stop/start feature. Might want to get a slightly older Forester. At 30K you’ll get a nicer trim line with all the bells & whistles. Never get the base trim on a Subaru; the Premium trim is $2K more and gives you a sh#t-ton of great features. I’m convinced the Base trim is for fleet vehicles.

Most newer cars have AC in the back, including most foresters. And the auto stop/start feature had to be turned off every time you start the car. There’s no built in way of permanently disabling it like I’d like to.

I am looking to buy a used car in cash and my limit is 30k. I currently have a base model 2021 Forester that has no AC in the back and that is not working for us in Virginia summers. I would buy a nicer used Forester, but I absolutely loathe the auto stop-start feature. What I do like is that it still has a gear shifter unlike a lot of new cars that come with that ridiculous dial thingy.

I want a car that feels like a car and not an appliance, but is comfortable to sit in and drive. I had a ‘99 Explorer that had beautiful tan leather interior. I kinda wish I could have that back again.

Should I just buy another used Forester and mod it to get rid of auto stop-start, or are there other options I am missing? Reliability is very important to me. I also need a hitch for bike racks and AWD for occasional off road and snow driving. The size of the Forester works well for me.
