No - I’m not looking forward to swim team this year. I have older swimmers. Drama has already begun. I’m over swim team. Kids not excited either, not sure how much we will really participate this year.

I'm really hoping my kids line up this year so I don't have only one making A meets, with the other being sad every week about being left out. I'd be totally okay with them both only making B meets, but I don't like the split. It would be nice if we could spend Saturdays together as a family. Kids are 8 and 10 yo.

Last year my brand new 7 yo made all the A meets in her first season on the team, but the 9-10 yo bracket was really tough for the 9 yo.

This is tough. My kids are 9 and 7, so they line up that they are both the oldest in their group every other year.
We’re in our “development year” of the cycle, so I am excited to have my Saturdays free, and just relax and have fun this season working the concessions and timing. I love Friday morning breakfasts and having coffee with my friends the other days.

I am also thankful that the older one is swimming 50s, so they can’t compare times. I have 2-3 years until we face the reality that the younger one may be a faster swimmer - not age adjusted, but flat out faster than his older brother.

I’m pumped. I had to make a fuss to get my youngest on 8&U, but last night at practice they were practicing with the starting buzzer and my 7yr old swam a time that got my almost 9yr old into a few A meets last year. I am hopeful he does well tomorrow so the coach and rep will drop their snark about “giving him a chance to see how he does”.

Team rep here and I'm excited. All the pre-season administrative stuff can be a drag but the first day of practice and again Time Trials both bring to life why I love being a rep.

So I do have my own life (honest, really), but I've been counting down to TT for WEEKS. It feels so good to be back with our wonderful pool community, see how the kids have grown, catch up on everyone's news, and still somehow feel that no time has passed. I can't wait to see everyone swim! (And yes, DH and I are both volunteering, so we won't be sitting, but it will still be fun.)

Everything about swimming is boring to me, to be honest, OP. But I'm glad time trials make you happy!

I always enjoy the time trials and I usually time at them. They're shorter than regular meets too, which is nice.

YES! I am so, so excited for Time Trials. I love the energy and chaos and fun of summer swim. I've been an athlete for many years and am so heartened to see kids learn and work hard and gain self-esteem through sports. We also have a very nice team, generally, with helpful, fun parents and kind, enthusiastic kids. Count me as another introvert who benefits from this easy socialization.

I'm shadowing S&T tomorrow morning and looking forward to it, if slightly bummed not to be clerking.

Time Trials is the start of my social season as well.

I am an introvert but all the volunteering has made me a lot of pool friends to hang out with. I love the community.

What are some of those things, besides sitting and swimming?

I’m 7:35…I see a lot of parents at swim season that I never see throughout the year. It helps that we generally have a very nice team—great coaches, nice parents and mostly nice kids. I socialize more during swim season than I do the entire rest of the year. It’s good for me, I come home tired but happy (and I’m not swimming! Just timing)
