It is not that easy, especially if it is a rear wheel. You need to take the calliper and rotor off so you could see what is going on. If you start to blindly pound the stud you’ll get it stuck half way.


Well, yeah? And? You also need to jack up the car and take the wheel off, too. I didn’t mention that either, did I?

I guessed some things are just understood. Clearly I’m wrong about that.

I charge people $30, plus parts, for that.

just go to a tire shop. the will press out the old one and re seat a new one.

Had this experience yesterday while trying to change a fat tire
Is it worth seeing if this is something the dealer would fix (I'm at 48K) or should I just go to a local tire shop?
FWIW I had a broken stud on another subaru 4 yrs ago, but didn't try the dealer as I was 60 miles from one
