In our experience, this depends on the specific teacher. Last summer, the first semester teacher was more proactive with teaching during the synchronous sessions, but the second semester teacher pretty much just assigned work and had kids figure it out.

The pace is very accelerated. I think if there is a student that is struggling to understand concepts, as opposed to needing credit recovery because they just didn’t do the work, credit recovery during the online summer school could be challenging unless they are highly motivated. I’ve only had a kid do online summer school for new credit, and not in math, so I’m speculating a bit here.

Our school offers an in person option which meets three hours a day daily for credit recovery only. Is that an option at your school?
