NP - I’ve lost 80 lbs too and have kept it off for over a year as well - and have 2 kids. Bring a parent inspired my journey.

Way to go, OP! I agree - I am more comfortable in body - love exercising too. And also far more accepting of all of it and letting go of concept / focus of “flaws”

So awesome, OP. It’s certainly harder than anything I’ve ever accomplished. I hope it rewards you forever and ever.

Yuck, you are just a terrible person.

Congrats OP! As someone with children who lost weight and kept it off, don't listen to this bitter hag.

That’s great OP!

Did you count calories? Also, how did you deal with hunger? The mental aspect of accepting daily hunger is key for me, but so so difficult and consuming (no pun intended)

I am so happy with myself. It sounds silly, but I feel this is a bigger accomplishment than buying a house.
A house you live in most of the time. Your body you live in 100% of the time.
It took me four years to go from 200lbs to 120lbs. And I’ve maintained for a full year now. Five years ago I was tired all the time, aging prematurely (mid-30s but with the aches and pains of a 50 year old), constantly on meds. Now I am not just healthy, I’m active, even athletic I might say, my belly is not only gone it’s completely flat, I’ve incorporated resistance training to add muscle tone and if I do say so myself, I look gorgeous.
Covid was certainly a motivator, but it was really a matter of “I’m too young to feel this old.” People were doing outdoor activities and I was always the one to say “oh I can’t, my back, my knees, blah blah” when I was literally 32.
This was HARD WORK. No medical assistance. As I said the best thing to compare it to was saving money to buy a house. It was a lot of hard work, sacrifice, giving things up. It’s also comparable because there was a huge hump that I got over and once I was over it, there was no looking back.
For me, that was giving up added sugars and alcohol. For the first 2-3 months it was BRUTAL. Socially, physically, mentally. But now I don’t even crave it. It doesn’t interest me. Compared to the financial example of saving money for that downpayment. Saving 40% of my take home pay was also BRUTAL - especially since I didn’t break $100K until I was 30. I had to give up things I was used to just treating myself to, but a few months into it, I didn’t even miss them.

I am not humble bragging, I am BRAGGING, and I don’t care. I feel on top of the world right now. I feel like I could star in one of those motivational YouTube videos. I know middle age and menopause can throw some curveballs in the next decade or so but I’m ready for it. I’ve got this.

And for those standing at the base of this mountain, you got it, too!
