Every single item in the location’s gift store is made in China. Why not buy it online cheaper before you go? You could even find a local business on Etsy.

That said, I do highly encourage supporting locally made products and food. But those megastores where OBX sweatshirts are sold are not making their sweatshirts locally.

Team DH. Both wierd to buy in advance and to wear while you are there. The point is to get a souvenir while you are vacation to remember your visit.

We go to the same beach every year. My kids prefer branded clothing online to what is sold at the beach itself. I don't mind because it's half the price

Say you were going to OBX this summer so you buy a souvenir shop sweatshirt online from the online store that reads OBX and wear it while you are there.

DH thinks it’s strange to buy it beforehand and would only buy gear from a store physically while at the destination.
