My child is in public school, is 11 years old, and still plays with Barbies, as do may of her friends. Chill out, lady.

I have a 6th grade daughter who sounds like your son. She is 12 but still loves imaginary play and is really still a kid. I thought she would get eaten alive at our large public MS. I was surprised that she really likes it. A lot that is going on just goes over her head. She has found a group of friends that are like-minded and do their own thing. It has been fine.

You are describing my also recently 11 year old DS exactly. Just add in an extreme love of stuffies. In our town 5th is in Middle School so he has already been thrown into that mix. I do notice though he's hesitant to have new friends over and I wonder if it's because of all of his toys (which he very much wants to keep). I think his Fortnite abilities somehow help, but overall he still seems so young. He also looks much younger which either helps or hinders depending on how you look at it. I get it OP, and it's very normal!

Kids should be kids, do kid things throughout MS imo. You can wait to be a full blown teen til HS.

He’s not a teen. He’s 11! I have a 13 year old who still doesn’t seem like a teen for the most part. My 5th grader is more teen like in that he’s the one roaming the neighborhood going to 7-11 and Starbucks or to the park with friends.

He's not a teen though! He's a kid acting like a kid. This why I especially hate 5th and 6th grade in MS. Even young teens in MS should act like kids, because they are kids.
